Michael Levesque

I am inspired by the emotions I feel throughout my life. I am inspired by watching a sunset and feeling the sadness that another day is coming to an end. This creative outlet helps me cope with the hard emotions I feel in my life.  When I am creating a landscape, for example, I look at the way the trees and grass move and how that affects the impression of the mountains. When looking at the details of the land, I can see how the trees twist and turn together with the weather. The movement of the trees combined with the shape and structure of the mountains are the images my artistic eye looks for. I have many inspirations, but I feel my closest connections to Impressionism and Surrealism. These styles, especially surrealism have opened my eyes to the unconscious mind and allow me to release my pent up emotions. Through art and finding my personal style, I have grown as a person and have seen the benefits that can come from looking at the world in a brighter, more colorful way. I chose acrylics when painting to bring out the light and pencils when drawing. My work is compiled of both paintings and drawings because both of these mediums speak to me and allow me to create my work when I am ready.
