My work combines a purposeful choice of color and mixed media to explore the intricacies of mental health. I am deeply motivated by the natural world around me and the emotional landscape of the human experience. Art is my way of navigating my own mental health journey, an ongoing process I find refuge in.
Primarily warm tones, particularly shades of pink, are found throughout my work. A color I used to hate, it now is reminiscent of transformation for me, as I have incorporated it into my art. Green shades are also prominent in my work, they evoke a special kind of comfort that I find in nature and the outdoors. Where I spent much of my childhood.
I use rounded shapes and soft feminine features to create the welcoming environment that the healing process should appear to be. I experiment with 2D and 3D art because I would like the viewer to be able to hold or handle the pieces I make. It is so easy to believe that self betterment is difficult, but it is within reach, just as my art is feasible and tangible. My process is strenuous but it brings me an unprecedented level of peace. Small changes lead my mind in an entirely new direction.
I am creating a portfolio to exemplify my dedication to mental health and my healing process. It is not linear or easy and the creative process is not either. I am using themes of nature and open space as a vessel for my vision.
